What is the Two Fires Festival?

The Two Fires festival is not only a celebration of Judith Wright's very considerable legacy but also an opportunity to explore the ongoing relevance of that legacy in a variety of domains. It aims to stoke the two fires of arts and activism. This year's festival will be taking up the challenge of Identity and Environment.

The festival takes place in Braidwood where Judith lived for the last three decades of her life. By locating the festival there, we hope to celebrate the importance of place in her life and work, and to emphasise, as she did, the need for our activism and art to grow out of stronger relationships with local places.
